    Situation

We aim to reach children at an early age and to give them the chance to learn and develop key skills – such as numeracy, literacy and creative thinking skills – through play. Access to quality education is a child’s best chance for a brighter future. An educated child is more likely to avoid disease, gain employment and will have more options in life. health promotion The Centres are run entirely by volunteers from the community and using local resources. Volunteering at the play centre benefits the volunteers themselves by transforming them into change-makers and giving them the confidence, vision and skills to drive their communities forward. The Centres promote good health practices, in particular handwashing with soap. Diarrhoeal disease is the biggest killer of children in the developing world. Handwashing is free and is the best way to prevent infection community empowerment. We aim to set up 10 new play centres a year. These will benefit over 1200 children and will train over 300 volunteers. We will also support and provide continuing opportunities to our existing centres. The cost of this is £10,000
