St John Wales desperately needs to replenish our fleet of Ambulances to save lives of people in Wales. In 2008 we are launching our 90th Anniversary Ambulance Appeal and raise enough money to replace at least 10 of the most urgently needed vehicles each year.

Situation
Our 4,600 highly trained volunteers give over 600 hours each year to treat ill and injured people through out Wales, but without the right equipment our volunteers will struggle to help those in need and to save lives. The most vital piece of equipment is our St John Wales Ambulances. A frontline Ambulance costs £49,000 to replace. In less than 3 years over 60% of our vehicles will be more than 10 years old, which jeopardises the reliability and effectiveness of our Ambulances. This potentially puts lives at risk. The more worn our vehicles become, they become less of a suitable environment in which to treat patients. As demand on our services continues to grow, it is vital we act now to replace these vital pieces of equipment. As a Charity we receive no core government funding and rely on the good work of our trainers and volunteers to raise money for our charitable works. In 2008, we are launching our Ambulance Appeal to raise £2million over 3 years to replenish our fleet of Ambulances. We shall undertake a variety of activities to raise the profile of our organisation, to increase support for our cause and to ensure that people in Wales know that our volunteers are always fully prepared to help in an emergency.
