Situation
The very nature of Asperger’s syndrome being a social/communication and a ‘hidden’ disability often causes fundamental misunderstandings between those affected and even experienced employment advisers. Despite their willingness and ability to work, these individuals often fall foul of the mainstream job seeking process.
Solution
The service focuses on 6 main areas: • 1 to 1 initial assessment/ analysis of personal skills, interests, experience and employment ambitions • group discussions about work in which clients can compare and contrast experiences with their peer group • advice, guidance and practical support with CV writing, job finding skills and strategies & with job interviews • support with finding and participating in work experience placements
