    Situation

As a result of escalating rental costs at our current premises and the feedback we have received from vulnerable and frail older people, our Board of Trustees have decided to move Age Concern operations back to central Sutton where we have a small office. Older people feel a sense of reassurance when they can discuss a problem face to face, this has been the ‘downside’ of moving to Granfers in Oakhill Road, because we are located to far off the beaten track. We anticipate that many more older people will use our services due mainly to good transport links in the area. our move was not planned and consequently we do not have a budget. Our capital expenditure budget has been stripped to the bare minimum and is currently estimated at £16,500. We are approaching you for a donation towards the cost of the move which will take place in late January 2008. Our budget for 2007/08 is already over committed as our Board are funding several projects from unrestricted reserves and we anticipate an overspend of £50,000 by March 2007 (this includes our estimated move expenditure. We would appreciate any donation, however large or small! All donations will be valued equally and we will ensure your donation is included in local media coverage of our move to new premises. We were off to a good start when the local authority offered to pay the cost of decoration and alternations to the value of £3,350, and we hosted a stall at the Rotary of Carshalton Xmas Fayre on Saturday 8 December. On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the staff team, I do hope you will feel able to support us.
