Through Guildford Actions other projects the furniture project is needed to give people who are at risk, in need or vulnerable more financial independence and minimise the start up costs of those going from 'street life' or supported housing to independent living. The Guildford Action Furniture Project will distribute affordable furniture to those on benefits or in need. It will use volunteers from local homeless hostels empowering them to make the first steps on the rung to full time employment and getting back into the community. It will provide the opportunity for donors of furniture to give to a good cause while being environmentally friendly and saving furniture from landfill.
