Situation
Devil's Hole Lock was built between 1813-1816. It was partly demolished by the Canadian Army in 1942 in training for the Dieppe raid though that damage has been entirely restored by volunteer labour. The operational stretch of the Wey & Arun will soon reach Devil's Hole Lock and the Trust would like to bring it to a standard which will accept boats of 70 ft length and 13 foot beam. New gates will need to be made and back-pumps installed together with an electricity supply.
