At the heart of The Bush Theatre is our commitment to developing new audiences and emerging theatre practitioners through our unique programme of education and development. One of our aims is to expand and regenerate the artistic conversation at the theatre and we are sure that bringing in new voices of all ages, cultures and backgrounds will inform, enliven and sustain the creative decision making process.

    Situation

    ‘“Where would I be if The Bush Theatre hadn’t spotted my talent and produced my first play? Would I have ended up playing in the Olivier Theatre at the National Theatre in 2006, or would I have played the West End in 2004-5 or Broadway in 2006 and would listeners have the benefit of my work on the radio and viewers my work on the television?” David Eldridge, playwright Our education and outreach programme is designed to provide a joined-up range of opportunities for young people and emerging artists, from schoolchildren to young adults, which will meet their progressing requirements. With your support, our programme will: - fill an important gap by developing and mentoring emerging theatre practitioners and the writers of tomorrow; - enable young people throughout the UK to access the expertise of Bush writers, directors, designers, technicians and actors; - actively influence the future development of The Bush Theatre and its programme; - run participatory programmes in schools and with theatre groups that will develop participants’ skills, self confidence, and ability to engage with the modern world; and - enable young people to experience and participate in theatre, breaking down subconscious or unintentional barriers that deter the optimum level of participation in theatre from the widest section of society;
