Coventry is one of the most disadvantaged cities in the UK; the city was ranked 61 out of 354 in the 2007 Indices of Deprivation, with residents believing that a lack of activities and facilities for young people increased crime which perpetuates the situation.

Studies have proven that participation in drama activities can assist the creative, personal and social development of young people and provide them with skills that are essential to success in education and employment; such as confidence, team work, public speaking, commitment and communication skills.
