Nottingham Arimathea Trust relies on donations to enable us to provide housing and support to destitute asylum seekers, refugees, victims of modern slavery & human trafficking. We need donations of money to help us set up new houses - for furniture, white goods & licenses with the local authority
Situation
The problem the project is aiming to solve is reducing homelessness of asylum seekers who need to present further evidence of their persecution to the UK authorities. Without our support, our residents would be sofa surfing or street homeless. Without a safespace our residents would find it very difficult to access the legal support and health services they need to enable them to move their cases forward. Regular support is provided by staff, student social workers & volunteers.
Solution
Our project will mean that we can expand our housing for destitute asylum seekers, newly recognised refugees, victims of modern slavery or human trafficking in Nottingham and Derby. We have potential to expand our housing through Housing Associations and Private Landlords. However each house will cost money to set up - this will pay for Houses of Multiple Occupation Licenses, Smoke and Heat detectors, fire doors and essential furniture and white goods. We estimate each house to cost £3000.
