The Blue Door Fund delivers reproductive healthcare to some of the world's most marginalised women and girls. Being able to chose whether and when to have children, transforms a woman’s life, meaning she can realise her dreams: to continue education, have a career, or care for her family.

214 million women in the developing world want to avoid pregnancy but are not using a modern method of contraception. This is due to numerous barriers including a lack of knowledge and information, available services, or financial means. The result is 89 million unintended pregnancies and 21.6 million unsafe abortions, which represents a major challenge to women’s health, social and economic prospects, peace and security.

The Blue Door Fund makes it possible for some of the world's poorest and most vulnerable women and girls in 37 countries - predominantly in Africa and Asia - to access family planning counselling, contraception and safe abortion services. Gifts to the Blue Door Fund allow MSI to strategically expand our programmes to ensure that we continue to make choice possible for millions of disadvantaged women and girls, through clinics, mobile outreach teams, community health workers and pharmacies.
