Raleigh International is committed to increasing the impact of our Expedition programme through diverse volunteer groups. Providing financial support through bursaries will give young people with potential the opportunity to join Expedition and effectively engage in personal and global development.

Over half the world’s population are under 30. Given the chance, they can be leaders of global change. However, they are often undervalued, underestimated and expected to underachieve, particularly if they are unemployed, in low-paid work or from low opportunity areas. Volunteering abroad enables them to gain skills and experiences, and find solutions to some of the world’s biggest challenges. But raising the funds to take part in a structured, impactful development programme can be prohibitive.

We believe young people are one of the most important resources the world has. Providing financial support through bursaries will enable more young people from low-income households to participate in our Expedition programme. We will create diverse groups of volunteers from a range of socio-economic backgrounds, and target young people who already contribute to society, giving them the opportunity to fulfil their potential creating sustainable change, both globally and in their own communities.
