"Our lives revolve around trying to keep George’s blood sugar levels in range. Only it isn’t just food that affects his blood sugars. Nerves do, the weather, anxiety, excitement, love in the playground, exercise, sickness… George can be too high. And then ten minutes later be too low, sometimes with no explanation." For 400,000 people in the UK like George, and his Dad Simon, this is the burden of life with type 1 diabetes. This project will fund research to lift that burden.

Research has transformed the way we manage type 1 diabetes over the last 50 years. We need to keep this momentum going. From completing trials for an artificial pancreas, finding ways to grow new insulin-producing cells or developing a vaccine to prevent type 1, we’re funding some of the best scientists around the world to cure, treat and prevent this condition. We know research works. We need your help to make that research happen.
