There are thousands of primates caught up in the UK primate pet trade, resulting in physical and psychological suffering. Wild Futures' vital work protects and gives sanctuary for animals in desperate need. Prevention is better than cure; education and legislation change can prevent suffering.

Pet monkeys suffer physical and psychological harm; metabolic bone disease, diabetes, self-harming and stereotypical behaviour is common. Demand for primates as pets is high due to lack of legal protection and poor understanding of the behavioural and physical needs of primates.

Wild Futures provides a home for life and specialised care for primates but also seeks to prevent these intelligent and endangered animals becoming victims in the first place by educating our Sanctuary visitors, reaching out on social media and working with schools and colleges about the needs of primates and the welfare issues of the pet trade to reduce demand. Vitally we campaign to end the primate pet trade which is currently legal, liaising with MP's, local authorities and fellow NGO's.
