Our economic social prescribing project (ESP) delivers work and learning opportunities matched with psychological wellbeing support for those experiencing homelessness. We help our people address their barriers to independence by focusing on social, economic, and environmental issues together.

Situation
Providing W&L opportunities alone for people experiencing homelessness doesn't address the barriers to success. While there are services offering support in the community, they often refer into other organisations addressing the barriers but with long wait times. People who experience complex traumas before or during homelessness need timely, specialised support to prevent repeated homelessness. Without such support, we fail to address the root cause of homelessness itself.
Solution
We will provide a dedicated programme, staffed by two specialist employees - one focused on employment, education, and training (funded by our Big Give and match-funding campaign), and the other focused on psychological wellbeing (funded by the National Lottery). We have a successful track record delivering both types of support. However, with this pilot programme, we aim to demonstrate and evidence the greater effectiveness of a combined approach.
