Situation
Our park is filled with native tree and plant species that are essential to our landscape, wildlife and pollinators and our heritage. With an estimated 10K visitors to the park each year, many of them children, we have an opportunity to educate our community and visitors on the role trees play within the ecosystem and that we plant specific areas of the park to attract declining insect species, while providing essential food, nectar, pollen shelter and places to breed.
Solution
As we continue to develop the park and native species arboretum, visitors will see the park come to life watching trees and plants grow and note the changes throughout the seasons. By adding interactive information boards around the park and information to our website we can engage and educate on the important role the park plays on the environment and our wellbeing. Many school groups visit the park, and accessible information around the park will be a huge part of their learning experience.
