Since the Taliban takeover in 2021, the ensuing economic collapse, extreme food shortages, severe drought and rising food prices in 2022 have pushed millions of people across Afghanistan into difficult situations. Last winter farmers borrowed money and extended family and community networks supported each other. These coping mechanisms are now stretched to breaking point and the prospects of famine and starvation this coming winter are very real.

We are providing emergency relief to those stuck in dangerous situations across the country so that families can keep a roof over their heads; cook and safely store food; heat their homes and keep warm over the winter; and keep their families clean and healthy. Alongside our emergency relief work, we will provide longer-term support so families can rebuild their lives and build a stronger future for their communities.
