Birmingham faces significant challenges - 40% of population is under age 25, 30% of children live in poverty. Working in the city’s most disadvantaged and hyper-diverse communities – 80% of our 36 partner schools are in UK’s 10% most deprived areas - we prioritise those hardest hit by health, economic and social justice crises, supporting progress to reach potential. We aim to improve access to and engagement with high-quality arts provision to boost educational attainment and wellbeing.
Evidence shows that arts engagement can boost young people’s academic attainment, skills development & wellbeing. We want to expand our established schools’ network - primary, secondary and Special Educational Needs – reaching 5,000 more disadvantaged young people from diverse backgrounds, through our specialist Learning Artists leading creative workshops in 8 new schools every week of school year, theatre visits, chances to create with professional artists, careers insights & skills development
