We are raising funds to take a group of young people away from the harsh urban environment of Alex township to stay on the Kidlinks training farm (KFSI) in the Eastern Cape. Here they will have an enriching experience interacting with nature, farm animals and learning to grow healthy organic food.

Situation
Many of the children we support are growing up in extreme poverty on poor diets and lacking access to healthy food. This problem has only increased since the Covid pandemic. Few of the children ever have the opportunity to experience life outside of the congested, overcrowded urban conditions of Alexander township. Without stimulation and opportunities to broaden their experiences and learn new skills, their aspirations, employment options and life chances are severely limited.
Solution
By establishing a partnership with KSFI, we are opening doors to young people to find alternative lifestyles and livelihoods. We will initially take a group to stay on the farm where they will learn about regenerative farming practices and learn to grow, cook and eat healthy food. To foster the knowledge gained we will organise a return trip for three farm students to help develop the site in Alex to grow food locally, inspire others and possibly grow enough to sell and generate a small income.
