The Majete Wildlife Reserve is a safe haven for wildlife. Our Veterinary Care Unit (VCU) gives animals in the park access to life-saving veterinary care, including sick and malnourished pangolins rescued from poachers. Your support will supply vital medication and equipment.

20 years ago Majete was almost devoid of wildlife. Poaching and other human activities had decimated elephant and lion populations, and only a few antelope remained. Since African Parks took over management in 2003 there has been an incredible turn around. Majete is now a place where endangered species thrive. Our team in Malawi support African Parks by treating injured wildlife at our onsite VCU, but we need more resources to able to cope with the level of demand for expert veterinary care.

Over 2,000 animals from 17 different species have been reintroduced into the reserve since 2003. Our expert veterinary team provide life-saving care to a variety of wildlife, with a focus on endangered species such as wild dogs, rhinos and cheetahs. Sadly, we also see and treat weak and malnourished pangolins, who are rescued from poachers. WVS is able to provide this help on site, but we urgently need more equipment, medication and staff to be able to cope with demand at our wildlife hospital.
