Christmas is a time for family but for young homeless people this couldn’t be further from the truth. Abuse, violence, and poverty are just a few reasons that push families to breaking point, and young people onto the streets. Our mission is to transform young lives and with your help, we can.

No young person chooses to be homeless, but this is the prospect for the 6,000+ young people we help each year, across the South-East. Since the pandemic, demand for our housing support has increased by 37% and the need is rising. During cold winter months, access to our advice and counselling services increases by 80%. The young people we help are in crisis, facing their trauma alone. Many with nowhere left to turn, until they find us. Y-Act this Christmas? If we don’t, who will?

YMCA DownsLink Group provide mediation, counselling, advice, and information to prevent young people in the South-East from becoming homeless or returning to the streets. We also provide a home to almost 1,200 young people a year. Due to rising unemployment, soaring energy prices and cuts to Universal Credit, the need for our support is increasing. With your help this winter we’ll give 700 young people the help they need to get back on their feet and on the path to independence.
