Women street sex work in Bristol to survive. They are living with addiction, violence, abuse and trauma. One25’s outreach van is a lifeline. It meets women where they are, provides practical support and a place of safety, and reminds them that they are valued and loved.

120 women are sex-working on Bristol’s streets. They face multiple disadvantages and live with the impact of trauma and stigma, often using drugs to cope. The women who use One25’s outreach van experience sexual or domestic violence (100%), addiction (98%), chronic mental ill health (98%), homelessness (93%) and chronic physical ill health (85%). 59% have disclosed childhood abuse. Yet, with non-judgmental support, we see them take brave steps towards safety and recovery.

Every weeknight (and on weekends during a current pilot), our outreach van visits areas where women are known to street sex work, distributing nutritious food, warm clothing, condoms, safety alarms and harm reduction kits for drug use to help women stay safe. The outreach team share information with women about known perpetrators of violence and connect them to further specialist support, including night shelters, emergency healthcare, and One25’s drop-in and casework services.
