At a time when Covid has so disproportionately affected disadvantaged children, now more than ever they need to be empowered to see a bigger, brighter future. A world away at the farms, they'll enjoy running in wide-open spaces and be immersed discovering the joy of the natural world.

Many of our visiting children from London schools live in areas of high deprivation and have been disproportionately impacted by Covid-19 through educational loss, emotional or physical abuse, mental health and wellbeing concerns or hunger and food insecurity. They have endured months of social isolation often in cramped accommodation and had limited access to green spaces and the restorative benefits of connecting to nature and the countryside.

Farms for City Children offers a completely different life experience for these children through an immersive learning through doing week on the farm. By carrying out meaningful tasks on the farm, children gain confidence, develop life skills and foster independence, learn to grow and cook slow food to encourage a healthy lifestyle, or simply have time and space to play and socialise with friends and peers again to improve mental wellbeing.
