BHN’s Solidarity Fund goes directly to our members to relieve financial hardship. Destitute asylum seekers have no right to work or public funds, so providing basic necessities is extremely challenging. With your support we can give £20 per week to asylum seekers hosted by BHN to buy essential items

It is difficult for people seeking asylum to provide the right evidence to support their claim. If they are refused they lose their accommodation, have no right to work and no recourse to public funds. While they can appeal this decision, at this stage there is no easy way to provide themselves with the basics they need - simply to survive. They cannot rent privately or access social housing, and are legally unable to work. Without money or accommodation, many become destitute.

Your donation will help us provide £20 per week for all BHN members, who are people seeking asylum, through our Solidarity Fund. This is offered to people who are hosted in our network of accommodation in Bristol, and can pay for essentials. Examples include food, toiletries, clothing, cleaning products, bus tickets, masks, and hand sanitiser. As well as providing funds, BHN works with all our members to support their need for accommodation, help with their asylum claim, and support wellbeing.
