We need to continue to reach vulnerable young people while offering employment to musicians. Help us design and deliver a blended programme of music learning which will include digital alternatives to allow our programmes to continue in the short term and expand our reach in the long term.

    Situation

Musicians’ incomes have disappeared as a result of venue and school closures. Yet music is one of the best ways of providing unity and supporting our mental health in difficult times. This is in addition to substantial evidence that an arts education is beneficial for academic attainment and soft skills development. Now more than ever we need to continue to reach young people who are experiencing challenges at home while offering ongoing employment and support to our community of musicians.

    Solution

We are working towards developing a blended programme of music learning which will include digital alternatives that will allow our programme to be delivered in the short term and expand our reach in the long term. This will ensure that we can continue to offer our inspirational and aspirational music education programme to young people, who don’t access extra-curricular activities outside of their school environment, whilst also providing vital employment for musicians to lead our workshops.
