When a mother dies in childbirth or shortly after, her baby is at serious risk of malnutrition or death due to lack of access to infant formula. In Tanzania, extended families often struggle to afford milk, leading to separation or worse. The Baby Project steps in to provide emergency formula and support, keeping babies healthy and families together during crisis.
The Baby Project provides emergency formula, feeding support, and case management to families who’ve lost a mother. We work with social welfare officers and hospitals to identify at-risk babies quickly. We supply formula and wraparound care, monitor each case weekly for one year, and ensure babies stay nourished, safe, and with their extended families—preventing separation, reducing infant mortality, and
