We work with women who've faced issues like domestic violence, criminal records or addiction, that have had a negative impact on their lives and ability to work. In our cafe they gain baking, barista and employability skills and are empowered with the necessary tools to build their own new future.

Women who live in cycles of oppression and disadvantage need specialist help and support to move into economic stability. Those who live with domestic violence, prostitution, criminal records, addictions and poor mental health face multiple daily barriers that prevent them from participating in the benefits that health and wellbeing bring. We help women shape their own better future through gaining baking and barista skills and other transferable tools to build confidence and employability.

The Wren Bakery provides a much needed first step in the journey to employment. Our programme is delivered flexibly understanding the needs of the women we train and the complexity of the issues they face. Phase one is 6 months of skill training, wellbeing investment and work experience in our cafe and training base. Phase two is 18 months of one-to-one mentoring support. We work holistically with our trainees to source work opportunities, placements or apply for jobs.
