Cancer is a devastating illness, with 6,500-7,400 new cases annually in Norfolk & Waveney. Rates continue to rise, especially for those aged 25-49, where the increase is 22%. In the Cancer Patient Experience Survey, only 72.2% of respondents could discuss their needs before treatment. The Cancer Quality of Life Survey shows a wellbeing score of 74/100 for cancer patients, compared to 90/100 in the general population. Since 2009, Star Throwers has supported over 4,000 cancer patients and carers.

To better support the working-age population and those with family commitments, we will extend our opening hours to include one evening every fortnight and one Saturday per month. We will offer 50 additional information sessions and 150 additional wellbeing sessions, reaching approximately 50 more individuals affected by cancer over a 12-month period. By doing so, we aim to address the growing need for time, information, and wellbeing support that is not covered by the NHS.
