Local poverty, spiralling costs and lack of employment opportunities; environmental pollution from plastic (current and historic), inadequate infrastructure for collection (ie plastic, aluminium & glass); poor awareness and education regarding plastic waste, environmental management and upcycling opportunities; diversification of economic activity relating to tourism; growing consumption of imported goods; exodus of family members to Kathmandu and abroad due to employment & income advantages.

Working with a Nepalese charity, PSD Plastics; to help extend household & public collection centres, fund local staff for waste collection, sorting and processing. To educate and incentivise local population regarding recycling and upcycling. Train individuals/ teams to develop educational material & provide community education programmes in schools, mothers' groups, hotel owners, local hubs and radio. Expand range & sale of upcycled goods and improve marketing. Reduce plastic transport costs.
