At the Larder we’re committed to providing dignified food provision, by reditrubuting surplus food from supermarkets, to all. However, we have significant running costs - around £1200 a month excluding staff costs - and would greatly appreciate donations from those in a position to help.

The Larder attends to the challenges of food waste and rural deprivation. Food waste is the third biggest emitter of carbon globally. People here are disconnected from support services typically focussed on the towns and cities further away. The social and economic challenges of rural deprivation and lack of services contribute to poor mental health, loneliness and social isolation. Fuel poverty is estimated to be on average 20% higher in rural communities.

The Larder collects and redistributes surplus supermarket food, destined for landfill, on a dignified basis for all. The Larder provides food seven days a week and redistributed 55 tonnes of food in 2024 saving 80 tonnes of CO2. 98% of Member’s said they think about food waste more since using the service.
