We are Merton’s local environmental charity. This campaign will support the management of 300 passionate volunteer Community Champions who work across our many projects that both address the climate emergency and improve quality of life including a community fridge, growing spaces, and repair cafes.

With the UK being among the world’s highest CO2 emitters, our work addresses root causes of climate change including overconsumption and a reliance on fossil fuels. For example, UK families throw away £800 worth of food each year and generate the second highest amount of electronic waste per capita in the world. As a result, climate change has already led to an increase in the frequency of severe weather events and is predicted to cause 250,000 excess deaths per year between 2030-2050.

Our mission is to mobilise the community to address climate change and improve quality of life, responding to the need for local support of grassroots, collective action. We carry out this mission through supporting 300 Community Champions in delivering many initiatives including a community fridge, 4 growing spaces, repair cafes, and waste reduction projects. This approach recognises that sustainability and wellbeing are linked and that experiencing positive local impact can inspire action.
