Communities across Sub-Saharan Africa are being hit-hard by climate change and Ghana is on the front lines. The effects of climate change pose a major threat for communities that depend on growing and farming and the effects are already being felt up and down the country. Unpredictable weather can devastate crops causing food and income insecurity. At the same time, Ghana is seeing a rise in refugees fleeing neighbouring countries where farming has become unviable.

Communities are looking for options to adapt to the realities of climate change. Sustainable beekeeping is a great tool to build climate resilience because it 1. diversifies income sources; 2. naturally increases pollination of crops; 3. mitigates some climate impact on crops; 4. helps protect the local environment; 5. is a community activity that can support integration of refugee communities.
