The Good Shepherd supports the most disadvantaged people in Wolverhampton. Our mission is to end homelessness, support recovery, and create pathways out of poverty, and our core values are hospitality, compassion, and respect. We recognise each person’s dignity and potential for growth.

Situation
We provide a range of free services for people who are homeless, have multiple complex needs, vulnerable families, and people on low incomes in a person-centred way. We work with people to obtain accommodation, move towards employment, access training or education and develop skills to build self-reliance. Having a hot meal available at breakfast and lunchtime is a magnet to ensure we can reach out and help those requiring support and show dignity and compassion in their time of need.
Solution
Our support so often starts with a meal! Having a breakfast club, lunch time meal and meal at our weekly emotions group is so important and one which helps people feel valued and respected. Feeling accepted is a barrier many face and something we strive to address. Meeting clients for a catch up in a coffee shop is such a boost as they transition into the community and build confidence and self worth. Whilst addressing issues, we also work with individuals to improve their mental health.
