Africa's majestic carnivores, from the powerful lion to the elusive cheetah, face an ever-growing threat. Habitat loss due to human encroachment and conflict with livestock farmers are pushing these incredible creatures towards the brink of extinction. Lion populations have plummeted by 43% in just two decades, while the African wild dog is one of the world’s most endangered mammals. Without urgent action, these iconic animals could vanish from the savannahs and grasslands they once ruled.

Tusk partners with local organisations across Africa. We provide funding and build capacity to maximise impact on the ground. To safeguard carnivore populations we invest in: Habitat Protection: We support local communities to establish protected areas and sustainable land use practices, ensuring carnivores have the space they need to thrive. Human-Wildlife Coexistence: Our partners support farmers to develop predator-proof livestock enclosures, and promote tolerance and understanding.
