The Rose Vouchers for Fruit & Veg Project supports families on low incomes with young children to buy fruit & veg. Families get £4 of Rose Vouchers per child and £6 if the child is under one, which can be redeemed for fruit & veg at local markets, helping children have the healthiest possible start.

    Situation

4 million children live in households facing poverty and are not getting enough nutritious food. With food prices remaining high, families are being forced to switch to cheap ultra-processed foods to make their food budget stretch - prioritising their children being full rather than healthy. The first 1,001 days of a child's life are the most important in setting their future life chances, but an inadequate diet limits the life chances of children and stores up health problems for the future.

    Solution

Through our Rose Vouchers for Fruit & Veg Project, we'll support pregnant women and families with children under 5 that are at risk of food poverty to buy a variety of fresh fruit & veg using Rose Vouchers, ensuring families can provide a healthy and nutritious diet for their children. We'll work with children's centres that identify the families most in need and distribute the vouchers in Lambeth, Hackney, Hammersmith & Fulham, Tower Hamlets and Southwark.
