For 60 years, Re-engage has worked with people aged 75 and over who are lonely or isolated, helping them meet new people in person or over the phone. Please donate now and, together with our dedicated volunteers, help provide regular meaningful companionship to relieve the misery of loneliness.

More than a million people aged 75 and over in the UK say they go over a month without speaking to anyone. Imagine the toll that can take on a person, both physically and mentally. Being lonely is miserable and studies have shown that lonely people are more likely to suffer from dementia, heart disease and depression. Loneliness has become a social disease that negatively impacts on physical and mental wellbeing. “The days are long and it’s so hard having no one to talk to. No one to turn to.”

We work within local communities to set up social gatherings for older people, offering a chance to get out of the house and enjoy much-needed conversation and laughter. "You feel like part of something, your group, like a family." For older people who find it difficult to leave home, we match them with one of our friendly volunteer call companions, who provide company over the phone. “I have a big smile on my face after the call. Having the chance to speak to someone perks me up."
