Advance Myanmar will support human rights activists working for democratic change across Myanmar. We will: provide grants to civil society organisations; help activists in need of emergency support; and support aid delivery through grassroots organisations rooted in their communities.

Myanmar is engulfed in its biggest humanitarian and human rights crisis ever. Since the military coup on 1 February 2021, people have paid an enormous price for resisting military rule: over 6,800 killed; over 22,000 political prisoners currently in prison; activists forced to hide and flee; and five million people displaced. Still, civil society organisations continue to oppose the military, document human rights violations and provide life-saving aid to their communities, refusing to give up.
Advance Myanmar works with local partners across Myanmar representing various ethnic groups and religions, and including student and women organisations. Since the military coup, they have achieved incredible things: documented the military’s human rights violations and reported it to the world, advocated for international support and action, and provided life-saving aid to their communities. With the funds raised we will support these amazing organisations further, at a time of enormous need.
