England is widely considered to be one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world. 1 in 6 UK species is at risk of extinction and our remaining habitats are too small and fragmented. Some of our most declined and iconic species, such as nightingale (93% loss) and turtle dove (99% loss) can still be found at Wrabness. We want to extend and connect our most important habitats to help protect our ecosystems and all they support.

Acquiring this land is part of our work to build a nature recovery network. The site has great potential for vital habitats such as coastal grazing marsh, ponds and hedgerows, and will support threatened species such as nightingale and turtle dove. Securing this land aligns with our vision to secure 30% of land for nature by 2030. As it extends an existing nature reserve, this can be achieved using our existing volunteers, staff and monitoring, ensuring efficacy and sustainability.
