From birds to butterflies, Devon’s best-loved wildlife is disappearing fast. We will work with farmers to reverse the decline, introducing natural solutions that bring benefits for their businesses as well as nature. Together, we will restore Devon’s damaged habitats so that wildlife thrives again.

Devon’s mosaic of rocky coasts, wetlands, woodlands, moors and farmland is connected by thousands of miles of hedges and watercourses. The landscape is spectacular, but its wildlife is suffering after decades of habitat damage and loss. 95% of Devon’s Culm grassland - a wildflower-rich local speciality - has vanished, impacting the red-listed marsh fritillary butterfly and willow tit that depend on it. Many of our hedges and rivers, nature’s highways, are neglected to great environmental cost.
Agriculture is often blamed for wildlife loss, but we believe Devon’s farmers can be the leading force in nature’s recovery. Our expertise will help them to: • Plan farmland habitat enhancement and restoration • Use nature-based solutions to restore homes for wildlife, clean up rivers and deliver Natural Flood Management • Adopt more regenerative soil management methods • Advocate for farming sector changes that support nature and farmers • Secure funding to continue nature’s recovery
