City Music Foundation selects immensely accomplished, brilliant performers and gives them the additional skills and tools they need to turn that into success – to captivate audiences and get noticed, to get great reviews and get an agent, to promote themselves and learn how the music industry works.

Exceptional musicians leave conservatoires to find that talent and accomplishment are not enough to ensure success. Lacking the tools, skills, and networks to navigate a fast-changing landscape - or to develop a unique selling point - they can struggle. Few have discovered yet how the music industry works or how to manage PR, contracts, finance, or self-promotion. As a result, too many outstanding artists leave the profession, and audiences lose the chance to benefit from their music making.

To ensure a vibrant future for music, young professional musicians need to be nurtured. CMF selects exceptional artists at the start of their careers - when the business side of music is most daunting - and support and guide them in a project of their choice. We also provide one-to-one life coaching, specialist workshops, performances, PR, photos, media training and BBC airtime. They gain skills, confidence, networks and visibility through the experiences we provide on and off stage.
