Globally, 1.75 billion children lack access to safe surgical care, leading to preventable surgical conditions that cause 5 times more deaths annually than HIV, malaria, and tuberculosis. Countless children suffer from treatable conditions that result in lifelong disabilities, lost educational opportunities or unnecessary deaths due to the lack of access to life-saving surgical care. Local capacity, led by local teams, must be at the heart of healthcare systems - promoting agency, not dependency.

At Kids Operating Room, we build solar-powered paediatric surgical facilities worldwide so every child can access life-saving care. One operating room enables about 2,080 surgeries a year. In just eight years, we’ve installed over 100 Operating Rooms in 36 countries and 105 Solar Surgery Systems, creating capacity for more than 650,000 children to receive care since our inception.
