Failing sight robs many older people of the joy of reading. Stroke or Parkinson’s can mean they struggle to even hold a book. Age-related health issues can lead to incredible isolation. Losing the ability to read is an added devastating blow. Audiobooks are far from being a luxury, for many they are nothing short of a lifeline. “I cannot thank Calibre enough for giving me back the ability to enjoy the written word again. Thank you.” (Calibre member Patrice, who has age-related sight loss)
Calibre offers a unique collection of unabridged audiobooks for anyone with disabilities which means they struggle to read print. This Christmas, we want to bring the joy of listening to fiction, non-fiction, classics and new titles, to 6,877 members aged 65 or over, by adding 50 new titles to our catalogue for them all. Members tell us how much they value the breadth of our collection and having access to new books: "A vast library of books and a very easy platform to use" (member survey).
