We stand with people rebuilding their lives after they leave the justice system, providing real jobs in real enterprises, a community of mutual support, and encouraging wider society to lower the barriers people face on that journey. Together, we're enabling people to turn around their futures.

The justice system in Northern Ireland records an overall re-offending rate of 67%. 64% of people in prison suffer mental illness. Over a five-year period, half of deaths in prison were due to suicide, and 23 people died within two weeks of release. With relationships ruptured by crime and sentencing, many people struggle to find their place in society, and combined with mental ill-health and unaddressed trauma, often resort to drugs and alcohol, making further offences more likely.
Turnaround offers people both hope and opportunity. By helping people secure paid employment, equipping them with the skills and tools they need to move forward, and advocating on their behalf, Turnaround is enabling people to turn around their futures. Crucially, offering a place within a community of mutual support, in which people mentor and support each other, helps to raise people’s self-esteem, improves their mental health, and changes how they are seen by themselves and others.
