Beneficiaries
Sri Lanka’s economic crisis leaves many rural families unable to feed their children. In some schools, only Grades 1–5 receive meals, while older pupils go hungry, causing malnutrition, fainting, dropout, and the risk of abandonment into harmful institutions. Expanding school meals to all ages can ease this burden, helping families stay together and protecting children from long-term harm, including the risk of being abandoned.
This vital project provides daily nutritious school meals to 259 vulnerable children aged 5–18, ensuring they stay in loving families and are no longer hungry, ashamed, or excluded. Alongside meals, families and staff receive training in nutrition and food growing, creating hope and self-reliance. In the face of a crisis, this support is a lifeline - keeping children healthy, learning, and with their families, not lost to institutions or a cycle of poverty.
