Over one million people in the south west are living in poverty. Winter brings added pressure. Struggling parents face impossible choices between heating their homes and putting enough food on the table. Thousands don’t have a home at all. And for many older people, the festive period can feel lonely and isolating. This Christmas, we’ll use the power of food to spread joy, dignity and connection across the south west.
FareShare South West works with almost 500 food producers, from farms to supermarkets to manufacturers, to rescue good food from waste. This winter our incredible community of volunteers will pack and deliver enough food for a million meals to school holiday clubs, homeless shelters, community kitchens, and many more. The food we deliver not only stops people going hungry, it brings people together around a warm meal, and connects them to additional support to break the cycle of poverty.
