Care-experienced young people are nine times more likely to face homelessness than other young people. For many, leaving care feels like facing a cliff-edge: seemingly overnight and at just 18 years of age, these young people are expected to be able to stand on their own two feet. Without appropriate guidance around bills or budgets, finding work or claiming benefits, however, 1 in 3 experience homelessness within two years of transitioning out of care.

Since 2015, we’ve shown that with the right support provided at the right time, young people leaving care can build stable foundations for themselves and go on to achieve brilliant things. Through the Settle Programme, our Coaches meet with young people 1:1 on a weekly basis to help them develop the life skills they need to manage their money, tenancies, and wellbeing. We also offer a range of support services, providing access to therapy, small grants and employability support.
