Young people in the UK are deeply concerned about the nature and climate crises and the lack of action by those in power. Nearly two thirds of 11–16-year-olds experience eco-anxiety and 62% don’t feel listened to by politicians, teachers, and parents. Low levels of access to nature among teenagers, and particularly those from disadvantaged and minority ethnic backgrounds, compound these issues, as they are missing out on the benefits to their learning, behaviour, health and wellbeing.
We know that empowering young people with the opportunities to develop, understand and participate in practical nature restoration action is the best approach to combatting eco-anxiety. We nurture young people as they make a positive difference in their local area, develop new skills and build positive relationships that will support them into their adult lives.
