Homelessness is an isolating and often traumatic experience which has serious consequences for people’s mental health. Our project seeks to tackle this through tailored emotional wellbeing support delivered to people staying in our services by a Psychological Wellbeing Therapist.

In our supported housing 80% of customers have a mental health issue, and a similar percentage have experienced some form of past trauma. Since 2021 33% of incidents in our services were related to mental health, physical health or self-harm, and requests for support from our mental health team are exceeding our capacity. We are doing everything we can, but without more mental health support people will find it very difficult to move on from homelessness and build the lives that they want.

We will appoint a Psychological Wellbeing Therapist who can provide tailored psychological support. They will deliver one-to-one counselling, drop-in sessions and group workshops. One-to-one counselling will offer highly tailored, personal interventions. Drop-in sessions will offer a way to access advice in a less structured setting. Workshops will engage people who may not otherwise seek support by addressing topics affecting customers like relationships and substance misuse.
