Situation
97% of women believe that ‘being a woman’ affects their personal safety and almost two-thirds feel unsafe when out in Leeds after dark with half ‘always’ or ‘often’ feeling unsafe in Leeds city centre at night (WFL 2021.) From the Women’s Rough Sleeping census, we know women are sleeping rough or walking around all night because of feelings of safety and are more likely to be mobile using different locations. 56% of these women need access to Domestic Abuse & Sexual Violence support services.
