Situation
70% of the UK is farmed, 70% of farmland is grazed but these grasslands are typically monocultures reliant on artificial fertiliser. In addition, 50% of UK grain crops are also fed to animals to speed their growth. It doesn’t have to be this way. Pasture for Life farmers transform grazing practices to harness the power of sun and soil, supercharge nature's recovery through diversity and remove inputs like feed and fertiliser. Many still don’t think this is possible. Help us demonstrate it is!
Solution
Pasture for Life builds community (1,200 paid up members, 5,000 supporters) around these nature and climate positive practices, casting progressive farmers as the heroes and drivers of change. Our knowledge exchange programme, including mentoring, internships and events (160+ 2023) is validated by research showing a positive correlation between length of membership of PfL and soil organic carbon and species diversity above ground.
