The Roses is raising £10,000 to transform access to our creative programme for children with special needs through the relaunch of INFINITE Creatives, a 2-year project for 8 – 14 year-olds with neurodiversity. The initiative will increase mental wellbeing and confidence using drama, art and music.

    Situation

Since 2020, North Gloucestershire has lost all extra-curricular activities outside of school for children with special needs. There are currently 16,251 children in Gloucestershire with special educational needs and 4,900 on a health or care plan. Over 100 children with high special needs have no access to specialist education at all. With such poor provision and access, research has revealed that neurodiverse children have more mental health issues, social isolation and development issues.

    Solution

INFINITE Creatives will build a programme of activities that expand access to the arts and culture; providing long overdue opportunities to special needs children in the community. In partnership with local special schools, The Roses will run a ground-breaking series of initiatives in drama, art, design and music. It will provide opportunities for skills development, socialising and confidence building, and encourage children to engage in wider opportunities across the theatre.
